Expansion Therapeutics Finds $55.3M

San Diego-based Expansion Therapeutics, a new biotech startup focused on the discovery and development of ribonucleic acid (RNA) targeted small molecule medicines, said today that it has raised $55.3M in a Series A funding round. The funding was co-led by 5AM Ventures, Kleiner Perkins, Novartis Venture Fund, and Sanofi Ventures, and also included RA Capital Management and Alexandria Venture Investments. Expansion Therapeutics said that Kevin M. Forrest, Ph.D., has been named President and CEO. Forrest is the former founding COO and CFO of Cidara Therapeutics, and previously was a Principal at 5AM Ventures. More information »
