SpaceX Gets FCC Approval On Massive Satellite Constellation

Hawthorne-based SpaceX has received approval from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), to launch its massive constellation of 1,500 satellites into space, for its planned "Starlink" Internet service. According to SpaceX, its Starlink satellite constellation is aimed a providing "reliable and affordable" broadband service to people around the world. SpaceX also says it already has its first group of satellites getting set for launch into space, with the first launch of satellites in the constellation targeted for launch possibly in May. SpaceX's massive satellite constellation would fly at an altitude of 550 kilometers. SpaceX is eventually hoping to put more than 11,000 satellites into orbit around the earth as part of the Starlink constellation.
