Semtech Upgrades Audio Visual Streaming Chipset

Camarillo-based analog and mixed signal semiconductor developer Semtech has rolled out an upgrade to its audio vidual streaming chipsets, saying that its new BlueRiver AV-over-IP chipsets include such features as thumbnail preview streams, bitmap overlaps, Dolby Vision support, and more. The chipsets are used by AV equipment manufacturers to stream video and audio over Ethernet networks. Semtech's chips are being used by manufacturers to replace expensive, proprietary AV matrix switches with Ethernet networks. The chipsets support 4K video and 2.5G, 5G, and 10G networks. Semtech says its programmable system on a chip (SoC) can be used to replace traditional AV/KVM extenders, matrix switchers, video wall controllers and windowing processors with a simple network of transmitters, receivers and off-the-shelf Ethernet switches.
