NASA To Launch Safety Review Of SpaceX As A Result Of Musk Pot Video

NASA is getting set to launch a full safety review of Hawthorne-based rocket maker SpaceX, as a direct result of Elon Musk smoking marijuana on the Joe Rogan Experience in September. The safety review at SpaceX--which looks like will also be applied to Boeing, which also has a commercial space program competing against SpaceX--reportedly "rankled agency leaders" who felt the safety review is needed to ensure the American public that "when we put an astronaut on a rocket, they'll be safe", according to the Washington Post. Although California has legalized recreational use of marijuana, rules around drug use are still very strict in the aerospace and aviation industry, where pilots are not even allowed use of medical marijuana or many common prescription medicines. Pot usage by executives--at least in public--also has been traditionally frowned upon in the financial sector.
