Semtech Powers Smart Campus System In China

Camarillo-based semiconductor developer Semtech has scored another design win with its LoRaWAN technology, saying today that its technology is being used by Chinsese company Shenzhen Sundray Technology Co., Ltd. (Sundray), for a new "software-defined classroom" product. Semtech said that Sundray's technology is being used to promote safer learning spaces by monitoring classroom occupancy, equipment usage, temperature monitoring, door and window locks, and air quality sensors. Semtech did not say how the win will impact its shipment volumes on its LoRaWAN chips. The company's chips are used for low power sensor networks, and are able to send data from sensors wirelessly using very little power.
