LA's Circular Systems Scores Funding From Levi Strauss For Sustainable Apparel

Los Angeles-based Circular Systems, a startup developing material science technology to transform waste into fiber, yarn, and textile fabrics for the fashion industry, has scored funding as part of a Levi Strauss & Co. (LS&Co.) accelerator effort, Levi's announced today. Amount of funding was not announced, however, Levi's has been offering up as much as $50,000 to startups to help tackle some of the sustainability challenges in the apparel industry. The award is part of a larger, $380,000 in funding Levi Strauss & Co. said it provided to the second class of its LS&Co. Collaboratory, a set of cmpanies that are working to create a more sustainable apparel industry. LA's Circular Sytsems is led by co-founder Isaac Nichelson. Levi Strauss & Co. said this class of its program is focused on climate change, which it says is most important issues of our time and a critical challenge for the apparel industry.
