Spotify Acquires Betty Labs

Music streaming service Spotify said on Tuesday that it has acquired Los Angeles-based Betty Labs, a developer of an app which lets sports fans and insiders chat about games. Financial terms of the acquisition were not announced, however, reports said the deal was worth "tens of millions" of dollars. Betty Labs is similar to Locker Room, the trending app popular among venture capitalists and the technology world, as well as musicians, which allows people to engage in audio-only discussions and performances. Spotify is based in Sweden. Betty Labs was led by CEO Howard Akumiah, and had 15 employees.
