As worries about the spread of a new virus from China--which has resulted in the quarantine of Wuhan, China, a city of 11 million--a Los Angeles company, Dimer UVC Innovations, is offering up its technology to airports and officials, at no cost, to a number of airports. According to Dimer UVC Innovations, its germ-killing robot, the GermFalcon, is designed to use ultraviolet light to kill viruses, bacteria, and superbugs on surfaces and in the air--with a model specifically designed for use in airplanes. The company said it is hoping to help federal agencies with disrupting with the pneumonia-causing illness which originated in the Wuhan region of China. That virus--currently being referred to as nCoV-2019 by the World Health Organization--is believed to have crossed over from either bats or snakes, or a combination of the two, through a seafood and wildlife market in Wuhan. Dimer UVC Innovations said it is offering up the robot to LAX, SFO, and JFK airports. The company said it was founded in 2014 specifically to take ultraviolet-C light disinfection to commercial airplanes, healthcare facilities, and the International Space Station.
