Tinder To Add Panic Button

Los Angeles-based dating app developer Tinder is getting set to add a new, emergency panic button to the app--in the case a date really goes bad--which will immediately summon emergency authorities and send them to a person's location. According to the WSJ, the new features will be enabled by an investment by Tinder's parent company, Match Group, in an app developer called Noonlight. The WSJ says the feature is expected to debut at the end of the month for Tinder--with Match Group also rolling out the feature to the rest of its portfolio of dating apps. Financial details of the investment in Noonlight were not announced. The move comes as Tinder and Match's other apps have drawn heat for not screening who is using the app, and letting known sex offenders use Tinder and other apps.
