SpaceX Completes First National Security Space Launch

Hawthorne-based Space Exploration Technologies Corp. launched its first national security mission and last launch of 2018 Dec. 23, sending a military GPS satellite into space. SpaceX has completed 21 launches this year, up from 18 in 2017. TechCrunch reports the latest satellite, operated by the Air Force, was built by Lockheed Martin.

Katzenberg Adds to Quibi Leadership

Jefferey Katzenberg and Meg Whitman’s short-form streaming channel Quibi hired two new executives this week, including former Viacom Music President Doug Herzog and former DC Entertainment Inc. President Diane Nelson. According to the Hollywood Reporter, other executives joining Quibi include Vice Media’s Andrew Freston, Marlena Haller of Lions Gate Entertainment Corp., Kate Presutti of Google, and Hannah Kitziger of NBCUniversal Media.

Blizzard, Overwatch League Tracking Player Infractions

Activision Blizzard Inc., operator of e-sports competition Overwatch League, announced it would implement a discipline tracker, publishing a list of players penalized for league infractions. Engadget reports to ensure the list is updated, the Overwatch League will “conduct full reviews of player conduct and history as new gamers are picked up by teams.”
