Chipotle Invests In Autonomous Delivery Robot Maker Nuro

Newport Beach-based Chipotle Mexican Grill said this morning that it is making an investment in autonomous delivery robot maker Nuro, as part of Nuro's Series C funding round. Chipotle did not say how much it is investing in Nuro. According to Chipotle, the investment is the first significant investment in a third-party technology company it has made since Chairman and CEO Brian Niccol was appointed in 2018. Chipotle did not say if it plans on rolling out autonomous delivery from its stores. Nuro's autonomous delivery includes self driving vehicles, which are currently being used to deliver groceries for Kroger in a pilot in Arizona.
