Indi, Founded By Buy.com's Neel Grover, Gets $9M

Newport Beach-based Indi, which was founded by former Buy.com CEO Neel Grover, has raised $9M in a Series A funding, the company announced this week. Source of the funding was not announced. The startup has developed an app which it says help individuals generate online income and monetize content. The startup was founded by Neel Grover, former CEO of Bluefly, CEO of Rakuten North America, and CEO of Buy.com, and also includes Shikha Uberoi Bajpai, former professional Top 100 WTA player, and Trever Gregory, former VP of Brand Marketing at Rakuten. Indi's app lets users tag products they are enthusiastic about, and earn commissions when people buy those products; allows experts to create on-demand videos teaching different skills; payment for peer-to-peer feedback; and much more. Indi said it is hoping to help people who are seeking new or alternative ways to produce income in response to the impacts on the job market from Covid-19, or just looking for another gig.
