OnRobot Sets Up Office In Los Angeles

OnRobot, a manufacturer of grippers, force and torque sensors, and other products that are installed on the end of industrial robots, says it has set up a new office in Los Angeles, after its acquisition of another company, Perception Robotics. According to OnRobot, the new office in Culver City will be exclusively dedicated to research and development, and will help it attract talent and add new products to its portfolio. OnRobot is headquartered in Odense, Denmark. According to OnRobot, its new office in Culver City has 6,000 square feet. Financial details of the acquisition of Perception Robotics have not been announced; Perception Robotics had been based in Los Angeles, and had been known for its "Gecko Gripper" technology, which was originally created to help NASA salvage and repair satellites. According to OnRobot, the Gecko Gripper uses millions of micro-scaled fibrillar stalks that adhere to a surface the same way that lizards climb, and specifically has the ability to pick up porous and delicate objects. Perception Robotics was founded in 2012. OnRobot and Perception Robotics merged in June of 2018.
