Hulu Snags Free Solo

Santa Monica-based streaming television service Hulu said Wednesday morning that it has acquired the streaming rights to the documentary Free Solo, which highlights rock climber Alex Honnold as he prepares to climb--without ropes--El Capitan, the 3,200 foot peak in Yosemite National Park. According to Hulu, the documentary will begin streaming today on Hulu. Financial details of the streaming deal, which was inked with National Geographic Documentary films, were not announced. Hulu--like many other streaming movie and television services like Netflix and Amazon--has been actively working to acquire rights to exclusive content to help drive user adoption of its service.
