Virgin Hyperloop One Completes First Passenger Test

Los Angeles-based Virgin Hyperloop One has completed its first manned, passenger test of its high speed transportation system, saying on Sunday that it has tested human travel in a hyperloop pod for the first time. The company said that two people--Josh Giegel, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer, and Sara Luchian, Director of Passenger Experience--were sent through the company's 500 meter DevLoop test site in Las Vegas. Virgin also showed off its XP-2 vehicle, a 2 person demonstration vehicle which is a prototype for future, 28-passenger production vehicles. Hyperloop One did not say how fast the two traveled in its hyperloop system, but said that the new XP-2 vehicle demonstrates a number of the safety-critical systems which will be found on its system, which it says can detect off-nominal states and rapidly trigger appropriate emergency responses.
