350,000 Ring Doorbells Recalled Over Fire Hazard

Around 350,000 doorbells from Santa Monica-based Ring has just been recalled by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), over the possibility that they can pose a fire and burn hazard. According to the CPSC notice, about 350,000 Ring doorbells sold in the United States--and another 8,700 in Canada--are prone to an overheated battery when the incorrect screws are used for installation. According to the CPSC, Ring has received 85 incident reports of doorbell screws installed incorrectly, with 23 of them resulting in the doorbells igniting, resulting in minor property damage. The CPSC also said that eight minor burns also were reported as a result of the issue. The CPSC said consumers should immediately stop installing the recalled video doorbells, and contact Ring for revised installation instructions.
