CookUnity Picks Up $15.5M, Eyes Los Angeles

CookUnity, a startup which connects up and coming chefs with consumers with fully cooked and prepared meals delivered via weekly subscription, says it is opening up a new kitchen in Los Angeles, after raising $15.5M in a Series A funding round. The startup--based in New York--said the funding will allow it to open up two new kitchens, including the ones in Los Angeles, and one in Texas. The funding was led by Fuel Venture Capital, and also included IDC Ventures and other existing investors. CooksUnity said it lets consumers choose from over 300 meals from its chefs, tailored to different palates and dietary preferences, which are delivered through a weekly subscription. Those meals are delivered to a consumer's home every day. The company says its meals start at $10.49 per meal.
