Liquid Death Takes $9M In Series A

Los Angeles-based Liquid Death, the canned water brand backed by Science, Inc., has raised $9M in a Series A funding, as the company continues to expand distribution of its products. The company--known as much for the way it markets its products as the product itself--said the funding was led by Velvet Sea Ventures, and also included Jamie Siminoff (founder of Ring), Jake Strom and Blake Mycoskie (TOMS), Sophia Amoruso (GirlBoss), and Nick Green (Thrive Market). Science Inc. and Jen Rubio (Away) also participated. The company says it has now raised $11.25M in total funding. The company is led by CEO and co-founder Mike Cessario. Unlike most water brands, Liquid Death sells its water in a can, and also has geared all of its marketing around heavy metal and the tagline "murder your thirst." More information »
