Acorns Gets Investment From The Rock

Irvine-based financial wellness program operator Acorns, which operates a program that encourages Americans to save and invest, says it has received a strategic investment from Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Dany Garcia, the co-founders of Seven Bucks Companies. Size of the investment was not announced. Johnson is best known for his acting roles, but now runs Seven Bucks Companies with his ex-wife, Dany Garcia. Seven Bucks Companies also owns the XFL sports league. According to Acorns, it is in a partnership with Johnson which will include several program to encourage families to start early and invest; that promotion includes $7 invested in each Acorns Early account for families who open a new account. Seven Bucks Companies is named after the $7 that Johnson says is all he had after being cut from the Canadian Football League in 1995; Johnson is now worth around $320M.
