SimpliPhi Power Dangles Further Discounts For Energy Storage Batteries

Oxnard-based SimpliPhi Power, a developer of lithium ferro phosphate (LFP) battery technology, said this morning that it is offering up steep discounts on its 3.8 KWh, 48V batteries, as part of its effort to cater to both Californians preparing for Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS), as well as globally for other climate change-related events, including wildfires, extreme heat, and hurricanes. The battery manufacturer has been looking to attract interest from consumers and businesses installing battery backup systems in California to deal with the proactive--but often, extensive--power shutoffs to prevent energized power lines from sparking wildfires. The company had previously said it would offer discounts on its all-in-one energy storage solutions; the new offer extends down to the core component of those systems, the 48V battery. The company said the discount drops the price of that battery fo $0.66 USD/watt hour for its MSRP, through October 31st. SimpliPhi is led by CEO Catherine Von Burg. The company claims that its energy storage chemistry is safer than typical lithium batteries, and do not pose the same risk of fire.
