Inseego Donates MiFi Hotspots To Fire Stricken NorCal

San Diego-based Inseego says it has donated a number of its 4G LTE Mi-Fi mobile hotspots to aid disaster relief, to the Northern California VOAD network, in order to provide communications during the power outages and wildfires across the state. According to Inseego, it also is offering up those hotspots to agencies in need, upon request. The hotspots are fully activated with service fro Spring and Verizon, and also include batteries and solar portable chargers for recharging wireless devices. Inseego did not say how many of the devices it has deployed, but said they will be used to connect shelters, mobile command centers, and other agencies to mobile 4G LTE. California's Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) have in many cases wreaked havoc with cell phone networks, and nearly 224,000 customers in California were without access to communications services like the cell phones, the Internet, or even television. A report submitted to the FCC last week showed some counties with more than half of their cell phone towers down as a result of those power shutoffs.
