Dreamhost Fights DoJ Request For Anti-Trump Supporters Names

Los Angeles-based hosting firm Dreamhost is fighting the U.S. Department of Justice, over a request to hand over the names and information of anti-Trump protesters who had visited a website organizing a protest against the inauguration of the current Presidential administration. According to Dreamhost, it has decided to fight a Department of Justice search warrant, requesting information on all of the visitors to the site disruptj20.org. Dreamhost said it has decided to fight this particular warrant because of of "highly untargeted demand that chills free association and the right of free speech afforded by the Constitution." Dreamhost says it estimates the DOJ is seeing 1.3 million visitor IP addresses, emails, photos, and more of anyone who has visited the disruptj20.org website. As part of its effort to fight the search warrant, Dreamhost has also enlisted the help of the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF).
