Dassault Systemes Pilots New 3D Design Fellowship At UC Irvine

The Dassault Systemes U.S. Foundation, the nonprofit arm of aerospace giant Dassault Systemes, said that it is launching a new pilot program this summer at the University of California, Irvine's Samueli School of Engineering, which will teach community college students the skills behind 3-D design. According to Dassault Systemes, the new effort is aimed at training the next generation of engineers with the skills most in-demand by aerospace, high-tech and transportation industries, and is being run by STEM education group Base 11. UC Irvine will be the first location in the summer fellowship program, which the groups says will teach the basics of aerospace design, computer aided design, 3-D printing, basic electronics and fabrication techniques through a series of mini projects. Dassault Systemes did not say how much it is investing in the grant to Base 11 to run the program.
