What Would Happen If You Turned Off Email For Just One Day?

no-email-largeWhat would your company do if you declared a day without email or instant messenger?

Businesses ran before email. Sure, not as efficiently, but I often wonder if that forced better prioritization.

Remember – activity doesn’t equal results.

We haven’t turned email off for a day here at Rubicon (yet); but we have taken a different step. Once a month, we now have RTT (Real-Time Talking) Events at our office. It forces people to step away from their desks and talk to people. Engineers having conversations with people in finance; technical support team members exchanging ideas with product managers.

We’ve done RTT Events twice now, and the feedback has been positive.

If you create venues and programs for your most important assets (your team) to exchange information, it will grow your overall intellectual capital.
