Blizzard Entertainment CEO Steps Down After 27 Years

Mike Morhaime, the longtime CEO of Irvine's Blizzard Entertainment, has stepped down from his role, becoming an advisor to the company, Morhaime said on Wednesday. Morhaime has been at Blizzard for more than 27 years, since he joined the company in 1991, when it was known as Silicon & Synapse. In explaining the departure, Morhaime decide "it's time for someone else to lead Blizzard Entertainment." The CEO role will go to J. Allen Brack, who has headed up Blizzard's World of Warcraft development efforts; Brack has been at Blizzard for 12 years.
