Netflix Gets Walt Disney Studios’ Approval | Multi-Year Premium Pay TV Window Agreement

Netflix Inc  and The Walt Disney Company have joined hands to give US  film lovers high quality animated and live action films.

According to Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer at Netflix, “Disney and Netflix have shared a long and mutually beneficial relationship and this deal will bring to our subscribers, in the first pay TV window, some of the highest-quality, most imaginative family films being made today.” To watch them from your phone to your TV, for instance, sites like screen mirroring may have something for you.

Sarandos added, “It’s a bold leap forward for Internet television and we are incredibly pleased and proud this iconic family brand is teaming with Netflix to make it happen.”

According to them, the new multi-year licensing agreement will make Netflix Walt Disney’s exclusive U.S. subscription television provider  to run its live-action and animated feature films on its platform. Netflix is an Internet television network with over 30 million members in 40 countries enjoying more than one billion hours of TV any shows and movies per month, including original series.

Beginning next year, the films from new Disney, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, Marvel Studios and Disneynature titles will be watched on Netflix instantly under pay TV or tablets, computers and mobile phones. The users will also have access to high-profile Disney direct-to-video new releases. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Disney and Netflix also agreed to bring U.S. Netflix members great Disney movies like “Dumbo,” “Pocahontas” and “Alice in Wonderland.”

Janice Marinelli, President, Disney-ABC Domestic Television was also pleased with the partnership.Marinelli said,”With this cutting-edge agreement, we are thrilled to take our highly valued relationship with Netflix to the next level by adding Disney’s premier films to their programming line-up.”

Marinelli added, “Netflix continues to meet the demands of its subscribers in today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, and we are delighted that they will have much earlier access to our top-quality and entertaining slate.”
