Sharpening Our Focus: The Socaltech 100 Is Now The Socaltech 50

Thanks to all of our readers who submitted their nominations for the socalTECH 100, our first annual list of the up-and-comers in Southern California's technology ecosystem. The good news: We received over 700 nominations for the awards, where we'll be identifying the top new entrepreneurs, innovators, and others in the technology industry. The bad news? It's going to be a lot tougher to get onto the list this year, as we've decided to highlight a narrower list of people on the list this year--giving each one of them more time in the spotlight. So, we're changing this up to be the Socaltech 50--the same idea, but a more selective list.

Our selection committee (plus our editorial staff) is looking to narrow what is a huge pool of candidates down to the 50 people we think deserve attention as potentially the folks behind the "next big thing" here in the region. We'll be providing our list of the 50 in the next couple of weeks, and then featuring those on the list over the coming months to highlight what they're doing--and why they are on the list.

We're also happy to announce some of the first sponsors who are going to be supporting the awards and the event, including: Dun & Bradstreet Credibility Corp., Internap, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Demand Media, Ramprate, Cresa Partners, UK Trade & Investment (with many others coming on board). We also have a long list of community partners (which we will list soon), who are also helping to support the event.

Interested in adding your name as a sponsor of the awards? Socaltech is going to recognize the Socaltech 50 in conjunction with the Digital Family Reunion on December 11th. Email Robyn Dickson at digitalfamilyreunion@gmail.com for more details on sponsoring the award or the event.
