EVTripPlanner Offers Up Guide To EV Road Trips

Are you an electric vehicle owner? Are the kids out of school, and are you ready to head out on the road this summer? EVTripPlanner aims to help users figure out where to go, how and where to keep their car charged, and how much energy it will take to get to their destination. The site offers up a directory of thousands of planned out routes by other users, and provides estimated energy usage for given routes, as well as showing chargers along a route. The site is the brainchild of Cliff Hannel--a local Los Angeles technology executive--and his family, after a road trip with one of his sons, who is a Computer Science student at stanford. The project includes both of his sons and his daughter, all of whom have contributed to the site. EVTripPlanner's features include considering payload size, temperature, elevation, and other information to help TEsla owners estimate energy usage for a specific route. The site currently supports calculations for the Tesla Model S and Nissan Leaf.
