This week in LA tech events presents a momentous and truly convenient opportunity: a webinar featuring Kimbal Musk, who sits on the boards of Tesla Motors, SpaceX and Chipotle. Musk will discuss the challenges facing businesses today, and talk about how startups should be focusing on the community as much as they are focusing on developing business solutions.

Santa Monica Downtown Community Plan ForumAugust 31 at 5:30 p.m.

As Santa Monica continues to foster a bevy of ultra-successful tech startups, the community continues to grow. With an eye towards future development, the City of Santa Monica wants to hear from you. In a partnership with General Assembly, the City of Santa Monica invites residents to come discuss the future of Downtown Santa Monica. It's a fantastic opportunity to help shape the future of DTSM.

Techworking: networking and conversationAugust 31 at 5:30 p.m.

Head down to Long Beac this Wednesday for a night of networking and conversation amongst some of LA tech's best and brightest. The monthly event is a great opportunity to see how far the tech community has come, and exchange information on present and future business plans. Be sure to bring your business cards!

JS Fundamentals: Arrays & ObjectsAugust 31 at 7 p.m.

Javascript, as always, is in high-demand, and having even a passing understanding of what the language accomplishes can be a huge bonus. Attendees of the two-hour long workshop will receive training from industry professionals, leaving with a fundamental understanding of JavaScript Arrays & Objects.

Military Veteran Hackathon -- > $5000 Cash PrizesSeptember 2 at 6:30 p.m.

This Labor Day Weekend,  Antioch University Los Angeles, Operation Code and Sabio will gather more than 100 coders to work together to create solutions for some of the issues veterans face every day. The goal is to bring civilians and veterans together by providing an opportunity to create software solutions for challenges that face our veterans on a regular basis.
