Image Metrics Buys FacePro

Santa Monica-based Image Metrics, a developer of facial animation software, said Thursday that it has acquired FacePro, a developer of lip sync technology used by art directors. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. FacePro develops technology which analyzes audio information to automatically drive facial animation. According to Image Metrics, FacePro's products are used by video game publishers such as Activision, Ubisoft, THQ, Square Eniq, and visual effects studio Industrial Light & Magic. The firm said that Rod Stafford, founder and president of FacePro, has become Audio Animation Lead at the firm.
