Relativity Space Secures New HQ In Long Beach

Los Angeles-based Relativity Space, which is venture backed by Bond, Tribe Capital, Playground Global, Y Combinator, Social Capital, Phillip Spector formerly of Intelsat, and Mark Cuban, says it has secured new headquarters space in Long Beach, where it will set up its business operations and manufacturing. The company--which is using 3D printing, using additive manufacturing and robotics for building launch vehicles--said its new headquarters is at 3500 E. Burnett in Long Beach, and features 120,000 square feet of space. The company said it plans to manufacture the world's first 3D printed rocket, the Terran 1, at the new facility. Relativity Space is led by CEO Tim Ellis; the company said that its additive manufacturing is aimed at disrupting the slow speed of iteration in the aerospace industry; the company said the use of its technique will result in a rocket with 100x lower part count than traditional rockets, a "radically simple" supply chain, allow a rocket to go from raw materials to flight in less than 60 days.
