It looks like Saturday is going to be a big day for Southern California's growing space industry, as 4,000 pounds of cargo will be returning to earth--heading towards Long Beach--in a SpaceX Dragon capsule. According to NASA, the SpaceX Dragon cargo spacecraft is expected to splash down in the Pacific on Saturday west of Baja California, where it will be taken by ship to Long Beach. The cargo will be returned to NASA, and the SpaceX Dragon will be shipped off to Texas to the SpaceX test facility. The return of the SpaceX Dragon will come on the same day that NASA is launching its first, planetary mission from the West Coast, from Vandenberg Air Force Base, just North of Santa Barbara in Lompoc. The SpaceX Dragon which is returning to Long Beach on Saturday was launched into space on April 2nd from Florida.
