Embark Finds $30M To Scale Out Robotic Truck Efforts In Inland Empire

Embark, a Silicon Valley, autonomous vehicle startup which is developing self driving, long haul trucks, said today that it has raised $30M in a Series B funding, to specifically build out its operations in the Los Angeles area. Embark, which has a center of operations in Ontario, California--in the Inland Empire--said it raised the new funding round from Sequoia Capital, as well as Data Collective, YCombinator, SV Angel and AME Cloud. Embark said it has added operations in Ontario as it looks specifically to automate the movement of freight on the I-10, a major freight hauling route due to cargo from the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. Embark did not say how many people it plans to hire in Ontario. The company, based in San Mateo, has now raised $47M in funding.
