NEXT Trucking, Backed By $21M From Sequoia Capital, Plans Big Hiring Push

Lynwood, California-based NEXT Trucking, which operates an online marketplace which connects carriers to shippers, says it is planning a big hiring push in Southern California, after a big $21M funding round from Sequoia Capital. The startup, led by CEO and Co-founder Lidia Yan, says it plans to double its workforce in Southern California, with a plan to hire more than 50 engineering, sales, operations, and marketing roles this year. The company recently hired six executives, including a new VP of Sales, VP of Product, VP of Engineering, Director of Marketing, and more. The company says its software uses routes, pricing, driver behavior and other intelligent matching algorithms to match parties on its marketplace, and hopes to replace the "antiquated" processes currently in use by the trucking industry.
