Greycroft Partners Leads $23 Million Happiest Baby Funding

Happiest Baby Inc., based in Santa Monica, raised a $23 million Series B to continue work on an intuitive crib that automatically soothes babies to sleep based on their documented activity levels. The funding round was led by Greycroft Partners, based in downtown LA. Celebrity investors Scarlett Johansson and Justin Timberlake also contributed to the round, according to Socaltech.

Pearl Abyss Moves to Manhattan Beach

South Korean video game developer Pearl Abyss Corp. announced Wednesday that its full-time U.S. headquarters will be stationed in Manhattan Beach. An approximate 30-45 employees are expected to work in the building following a remodeling, and the deal was brokered by Washington, D.C.-based real estate brokerage firm Cresa. Cresa’s interactive entertainment real estate division also represented South Korean broadcast firm and e-sports competition organizer OGN in its October deal to construct a 35,000 square-foot e-sports arena in Manhattan Beach, not far from Pearl Abyss’ new digs.

Blizzard Expands Overwatch League Offerings

Santa Monica-based Activision Blizzard Inc. will take its Overwatch League e-sports competitions on the road during the upcoming 2019 season. Instead of LA-exclusive competitions, teams have the opportunity to compete in a series of home matches in Dallas and Atlanta. The 2019 Overwatch League season kicks off Feb. 14, Engadget reports.
