Guardian Circle Adds Peter Diamandis As Advisor

Marina Del Rey-based startup Guardian Circle, the developer of a social-based system and app that helps people summon help from their friends, said last week that it has added futurist Peter Diamandis as an advisor as part of a "token sale" the company is running. The startup--led by longtime LA entrepreneur Mark Jeffrey--has developed a system which uses mobile apps running on OS, Apple Watch, Android and Alexa where users can summon "emergency help" from their social circle, which the company calls "citizen-rescuers" who are alerted in the event of an emergency, dispatching aid closest to the situation. The company says it rewards those "guardians" with a new cryptocurrency called Guardium. Peter Diamandis is one of founder of the XPRIZE Foundation, and also has founded such ventures as Singularity University, Human Longevity Inc., International Space University, and Planetary Resources. Jeffrey was previously Chief Product Officer at TargetClose, and as a for-hire CTO and Chief Product Officer, had such clients as ThisNext/Glossi, Blurb, MAKER Media, SkyZONE, and many other local startups. Jeffrey also was CEO and co-founder of ThisWeekIN, and was CTO of Mahalo, both of which he had co-founded with Jason Calacanis.
