Qualcomm Backs M87 To Improve Access To Wireless Networks

San Diego-based Qualcomm is one of the backers in a startup which is developing technology to create a network of peer-to-peer, wireless devices, to help improve access for phones in poor coverage areas. Seattle-based M87 said it raised $5M in a funding round, which was led by Madrona Venture Group, and also included Qualcomm Ventures and Trilogy Equity Partners. Cole Brodman, the former Technology and Innovation Chief and CMO of T-Mobile, and investor at Trilogy Equity, is the company's new CEO.
