Bird Lets You Become Your Own Scooter Entrepreneur With Bird Platform

Santa Monica-based on-demand, scooter rental service Bird said on Tuesday it has launched a new program, which will let anyone build and operate their own Bird e-scooter network. According to Bird, it has created the Bird Platform, which lets people apply to run their own fleet of Bird scooters. The program allows entrepreneurs to create and manage their own fleet of shared, e-scooters, letting users simply upload a logo, select a sleeve color, and receive branded Bird scooters--once those users have secured city permits. Bird said it will create a customized website for those entrepreneurs, and provide "everything you need to manage your fleet of e-scooters". Bird will also connect those entrepreneurs with a "marketplace of chargers and mechanics" to help those entrepreneurs manage their fleets. Users of the new Bird Platform will pay Bird a 20 percent commission on all rides on their fleet of Bird scooters.
