HP Settles With Two SoCal Firms Over Inkjet Imports

Printer giant HP disclosed this morning that it has settled with two, Southern California importers of inkjet cartridges, as part of a larger investigation by the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) over importation and sale of HP 02-comatible inkjet ink cartridges. HP, which had filed a complaint with the ITC in September of last year, said that it has settled with Canoga Park-based InkPlusToner.com and City of Industry-based Comptree Inc, which runs the Meritline, ABCInk, EZ Label, and CDR DVDR Media businesses. HP said that those two firms have agreed that HP's patents are valid, will cease and desist from selling HP 02 cartridges, and have paid the firm an undisclosed amount of money. HP had named another nine importers of cartridges in the complaint, and is in the midst of settlements or default judgements in those other cases.
