Los Angeles Firm Sues Google Over Mobile Browsing Patent

A little known Santa Monica-based firm EMG Technology is taking on Google in a patent fight, announcing today that it has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against the Internet giant, over a patent covering simplified navigation systems on smart phones and tablets. According to EMG, the lawsuit was filed in the District Court for the Eastern District of Texas in the Tyler Division, by Jeffer, Mangels, Butler & Mitchell LLP. The firm is seeking monetary damages and a permanent injunction against Google for distributing its Chrome Mole Browser in the United States. EMG apparently has similar lawsuits against such companies as Apple, Radio Shack, and Chrysler, and reached a settlement with Apple in January of 2011 in that suit.
