How has the spinout experience from UCI been? People there encourage commercializing research, but, that said, UCI in particular and maybe the area around here is not very primed to do tech startups. The sort of support mechanisms and networks in place really are about pharmaceuticals, biomedical, and patents.

As you know, it was started by the Vice Chancellors at UCI and Dwight Decker, who really got together and got things going. If you measure it in terms of patents generated, measure it in terms of the number of technical jobs per 100,000 residents--it's very high on all analytical measurements.
