Tripp Inc., a West Adams-based virtual reality wellness startup, has raised $11 million in a Series A funding round.

Tripp uses its platform to immerse users in virtual realities that promote mental health and emotional wellbeing through the use of psychedelic visuals, sound frequencies and gameplay mechanics. In each Tripp experience, which can take anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes, users are guided through a breathing meditation.

The funding round, announced by the company on June 24, was
led by Mayfield and life science firm Vine Venture. It brings the company's total funding to  $15 million.

The company said it would use the new funds to continue growing its team and user base, to support cross-platform distribution and to integrate its platform with therapy trips as the psychedelic therapy industry grows.

“We are so grateful to have the support of our partners and our investors who are mission-aligned with the reason we exist: to make people feel better and destigmatize mental health through the power, potential, and purpose of solutions such as Tripp’s digital psychedelic platform,” Tripp Chief Executive and Co-Founder Nanea Reeves said in a statement.

Since its launch 2018, the female-founded company said it has tripled its user base and has streamed more than 2 million virtual reality-based wellness sessions.

Tripp is available on virtual reality platforms Oculus and PlayStation VR, as well as Apple and Android devices.
