Southern California Startups Raise $761.12M in Q2 2014

Mission Ventures' Lee Departs For Stealth Startup

Jeff Lee , a senior associate at San Diego- and Los Angeles-based Mission Ventures , has quietly left the firm to head up a newly founded, stealth startup, according to Lee's LinkedIn profiles and bounced emails to his Mission Ventures address. Lee has not yet announced what he his new startup is up to.

BetterWorks Shutting Down On May 31st

New York-based 2tor , the online education startup which powers online degree programs from the University of Southern California (USC) and others, has raised $32.5M in a Series C funding. Chill Shifts To Social Discovery

In another shift of focus, Los Angeles-based Chill , the startup headed by Brian Norgard and Dan Gould, has recast the site as a social video discovery site, and away from its live chat and video hangout focus. The new focus is one of several iterations made by Chill since its started life as Namesake, a social Q&A service, back in 2010.
