Silicon Beach Report June 27: Disney Launches Incubator; Faraday Future Fires Furloughed Workers; AEG Links with Lyft

AEG Partners with Lyft

Downtown-based venue management firm AEG inked a national partnership with ride-share operator Lyft to bring Lyft pickup zones to several AEG-owned venues. Socaltech reports the deal names Lyft as AEG’s “exclusive rideshare, bike, and scooter partner,” and noted the pickup zones are spread across eight markets. Terms of the partnership were not disclosed.

Furloughed Faraday Future Employees Laid Off

Gardena-based electric vehicle manufacturer Faraday Future laid off employees it had placed on unpaid leave, the Business Journal reports. Faraday Future would not disclose how many employees it fired but said some left on their own prior to the announcement and added that roughly 350 people remain actively employed at the company.

Disney Launches Incubator

Burbank-based Walt Disney Co. is taking applications for its new incubator program for underrepresented filmmakers, which it calls the Launchpad Shorts Incubator. The program links filmmakers with Disney and American Film Institute professionals who will assist in developing a short film. Applications for the program close July 2.
