Plex Pharmaceuticals Gets $670K For Parkinson's Research

San Diego-based Plex Pharmaceuticals, a biotechnology company aiming at treating ALS, Parkinson's disease and cataracts, says it has raised $670,865, via the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research (MJFF). The funding--which came in the form of a grant--will go towards using its technology to discover and develop brain-permeable drug candidates for treating Parkinson's disease. Plex Pharmaceuticals, which formerly was known as CalAsia Pharmaceuticals, has previously received grant funding from both the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and The Michael J. Fox Foundation. The company says its technology was originally developed at the Yale University School of Medicine.
