San Diego's ScootScoop Becomes Bane Of Scooter Startups
In a battle that pits a small, San Diego startup against a fleet of on-demand scooter companies--including Santa Monica-based Bird, Lime, Lyft, LA's Wheels, and many others--ScootScoop is causing major headaches by impounding thousands of scooters around San Diego. ScootScoop has been confiscating and impounding dockless scooters all across San Diego for business owners and landlords who are tired of the scooters cluttering up their property. ScootScoop is now embroiled in several lawsuits--including one from Bird, and another from Lime--saying that the company is improperly impounding scooters owned by those scooter companies. Bird says that the "people of San Diego are being bamboozled by a local tow company scheme".
