FLOAT Plans Short Haul, Commuter Flights For SoCal Commuters

Tired of having to drive through grinding traffic every day? La Verne, California-based FLOAT, started by Arnel Guiang, Tom Hsieh, and Rob McKinney, says that it is about to launch a new, short-distance, daily commuter flight service, aimed at allowing people to bypass all of the traffic on local roads. FLOAT--short for Fly Over All Traffic--says it will start a trial of its service in December, offering up an air taxi for as little as $1250 per month, and letting commuters fly between westside Los Angeles, the San Fernando Valley, Orange County, and the Inland Empire, using general aviation airports in the region. According to the startup, it will operate from Monday through Friday, with costs of different routes depending on exactly what routes are needed and schedule. FLOAT said its service is aimed at commuters who travel at least 90 minutes between home and work daily. The company was founded by Arnel Guiang, Tom Hsieh, and Rob McKinney. Guiang, who serves as CEO, is also founder and CEO of a startup studio called G Labs LA, which also started a social messaging app called ChatApp.
