THQ Deal With Syfy Takes de Blob to Screen

Agoura Hills-based video game developer THQ and television channel Syfy said Thursday they will be jointly creating new concepts and intellectual property based on THQ's video games. According to the firms, the first move by Syfy will be the use THQ's de Blob franchise as the foundation of a new, Syfy Kids effort, focused on the youth market of 2-17 year olds. The two companies said that Syfy will create and publish original concent based on de Blob and THQ's other gaming franchises, as well as new intellectual property. Financial details of the effort were not disclosed. THQ introduced de Blob in 2008. The firms said the development of THQ's properties will be headed by Alan Seiffert, Senior Vice President of Syfy Ventures.
