Stamps.com Adds New International Shipping Services

El Segundo-based online postage provider Stamps.com said late Thursday that it has launched a new, international shipping service with GlobalPost, which will help ease its customer's uncertainty about possible international shipping disruptions due to the possibility of the United States leaving the Universal Postal Union (UPU). The United States--barring any last minute agreements--is due to leave the Universal Postal Union (UPU), the international body which governs the exchange of mail and parcels between countries, and which makes possible shipping letters via mail service. That move is expected to send global shipping rates soaring. The United States has been part of the UPU for the last 144 years. According to Stamps.com, its relationship with GlobalPost will allow businesses to ship internationally without disruption, and still receive similar transit times, custom clearances, and competitive rates.
