In a move which seems to aim at keeping high definition televisions relevant in the era of online streaming, Irvine-based Vizio announced its very own video streaming service on Wednesday, powered by LA's Pluto TV. According to Vizio, it has launched a new service called WatchFree, which will offer access to more than 100 live and linear channels for free, direct streaming. Terms of the deal between Pluto TV and Vizio were not announced. Pluto TV's backers include U.S. Venture Partners, United Talent Agency, Sky plc, Chicago Ventures, Great Oaks Venture Capital, Luminari Capital, Samsung Venture Investment Corporation, among others.
